Actually, no.  Although I culdn't get it to work, you CAN use a
fixed-rate monitor, like a 1084S, but it requires making a monitor file
with PicassoMode (which is warned that it could be dangerous), and
getting a special cable.  I couldn't get the cable part to work, though,
even in Amiga modes.  I finally broke down and bought a C= 1942 refurb.
Ah, well...
